Uwe Schmidt’s (Atom™) project focused on the fusion of experimental electronics and Latin music. Launched in 1997, it earned international acclaim for South American versions of Kraftwerk’s songs from the “El Baile Aleman” album and covers of classic rock hits released on “Fiesta Songs”. Coconut’s records ended up on numerous mixtapes, advertising spots and film soundtracks (“Y Tu Mamá También”). He’s shared the stage with true legends, such as Yellow Magic Orchestra, and one of his fans was the late David Bowie. Señor Coconut combines musical pastiche with avant-garde experiments, creating an entertaining mix of styles and genres impossible to copy.
